Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is a Globally recognized internal audit certification designed for Accountants who conduct internal Audits, it is offered by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA-USA). Auditors from more than 150 countries have been awarded with CIA certification. It is the IIA’s Premier designation for more than 40 years, the CIA sets the standard for excellence within the profession. Earning the CIA is an important step toward demonstrating your core internal audit skills and knowledge.

CIA Certified

As the only globally recognized certification for internal auditors, the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation proves that you:

• Possess current knowledge of The IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and demonstrate appropriate use.

• Are able to perform an audit engagement in conformance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

• Understand organizational governance and can apply tools and techniques to evaluate risks and controls.

• Can apply the business, IT, and management acumen needed for internal auditing.

Levels of CIA

In order to complete CIA Certificate, the candidate must pass three parts of CIA Program to obtain a CIA Certificate.

CIA Level I

CIA Part 1 consists of 125 questions and it is comprehensively aligned with the IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). It includes six domains covering the basic foundation of internal auditing, independence and objectivity, proficiency and due professional care, quality assurance and improvement programs, Governance, Risk Management and Control, Fraud Risk.

🕑 The time duration of CIA Part 1 is 150 minutes in total.
CFA Level 2

CIA Part 2 exam consists of 100 questions and includes four domains focused on managing the internal audit activity, planning the engagement, performing the engagement, and communicating engagement results and monitoring progress. Part 2 tests candidates’ knowledge, skills, and abilities particularly related to Performance Standards (series 2000, 2200, 2300, 2400, 2500, and 2600) and current internal audit practices.

CFA Level 3

CIA Part 3 exam consists of 100 questions and it includes four domains with focus on business acumen, information security, information technology, and financial management. Part 3 is specifically designed to test candidates’ ability, knowledge and skills. particularly as they relate to these core business concepts.
